Gal Gadot is to Wonder Woman as Hugh Jackman was to Wolverine, born to play their roles as these heroes! You will not be able to see someone else take on this role after you finally get to see her in the first solo outing for this iconic and legendary character.

It is no secret that the latest DC Films to come out have not  been well received by the critics and that little nasty tomato score that so many tend to go by. The DC Comics Cinematic Universe has hit some choppy waters with pretty much all of their releases and even though there is a strong lineup of films on the way especially with The Justice League due out later this year it was said that “Wonder Woman” was going to have to blow it out of the water with critics and fans alike to ensure the future of the DCEU (Dc Comics Extended Universe). No pressure right?

You can say that Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman was a risky move up until you finally got to see her in “Batman v Superman” where she very much stole the show and shut down all the haters. Gal was one of the highlights if not the highlight of the film that the hype train took off even earlier for her solo film which would give her a nice origin story for all to see. Now lets add to the pot director Patty Jenkins and a great writing team amongst Zack and Deborah Snyder as Producers on the project and you get the rumor mill churning that the film will be a disaster because of some many things that honestly we could care less about. Why are giving you this little intro? So you can maybe see how important this film will be on so many levels. Women in Hollywood have been treated like second class citizens and it is sad that it has taken this long to bring it’s most iconic super hero to the big screen in this age of sooo many comic book films. This genre is not just for the boys as you will see once you see this film on the big screen.

It has been a long time since a film has surpassed all the hype surrounding it. “Wonder Woman” leaves all that hype and shit talking in the dust!

Director Patty Jenkins has taken the origin story to another level! We are going to give you a general overview of the film without spoiling it for you. How do you tell the story of one comics most legendary characters after already seeing her in action and also being part of the upcoming Justice League film. Where will her story fit in the DCEU? This is how you do it? In “Wonder Woman” you will see Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) go from early childhood to a naïve and disobedient daughter who does not really know the true nature of her powers. From the trailers you have gotten a little taste of what the film was about. The setup done here is layered so well that you are able to walk into this film without any knowledge of the heroine and the DC Universe. It works so well as a true solo film. There really was no need to incorporate any part of the DCEU here because her story can stand alone on its two feet and with Patty Jenkins behind the wheel you will see an excellent story come to life.

Set in World War I “Wonder Woman” sees her land of Themyscira land of the Amazons ruled by her warrior mother Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nelson) receive some unwelcomed visitors. Captain Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) crash lands on the island and is being followed by German soliders and Princess Diana comes to his aim as the Amazonians engage in battle with the Germans. Some phenomenal fights scenes here I must add! From there the story begins to develop because after hearing what is going on outside of there Island World Diana insists that they help mankind because that is what they are there for. Diana is not fully aware of her roots and was not allowed to train to become one of these amazing Amazonian warriors because of her true origin.

In true idealistic nature she defies her mother and leaves the island with Steve Trevor. We enjoyed all of the character building and set up her as you truly see how naïve and optimistic she is. You are seeing two different Wonder Woman’s here, from the Batman vs Superman one to this one as a young woman who is very pure and believes that man is only evil because they have been brainwashed by evil and she can stop everything herself. Along the way you meet a terrific cast of characters who aid them in their journey. We will leave it there because here is where we can spoil the film for you. The action sequences paired with the “Wonder Woman” theme song may leave you with some tears of happiness and leave you cheering with your fellow movie goers. There are some good ones here that thankfully were not spoiled in the trailers! The visuals and long shots left us wanting them to pause the film so we could take a picture and take in that moment. It shows that a lot of time was taken in ensuring that we are getting a visually stunning film with a magnificent to go along with it.

This summer you will be witnessing history as this is the first summer where a female lead Summer “blockbuster” film will debut with a female director at the helm for a major studio. In my mind this is long overdue but that’s just me. “Wonder Woman” will be the film to watch this summer and we cannot wait to see it a few more times at the theaters. It will connect with you on many different levels that a second or third viewing will be needed.
